Dr. dinh-hoa Nguyen, a vietnamese american linguist-lexicographer, is professor emeritus of linguistics and foreign languages & literatures at southern illinois university at Carbondale. beside administrative duties as associate Director, then Director, of the siu center for vietnamese studies between 1969 and 1990, the hanoi-born scholar has taught vietnamese linguistics, literature and culture at several institutions of higher learning (Universities of Saigon, Hue, and Dalat, columbia U., the U. of Washington, the U. of Hawaii, san jose state U., mission College). in 1981-1982, he served as fulbright lecturer in english linguistics at the centre pedagogique regional in Rabat, Morocco. professor Nguyen's long publications list includes several phrase books, textbooks, and dictionaries, as well as many book reviews, articles and essays appearing in leraned journals and encyclopedias.
