[Vtic2003] [Local chapter meeting 3/13 - report]

Hello,
 
We had a meeting at the restaurant, Pho Song Long, of a local member, Mr. Tony Nguyen, last Saturday, 3/13.
 
We have agreed to focus our efforts in the next few months on the following two tasks:
 
1. VTIC04 in Los Angeles on May 22, 2004: We need to communicate more regularly on the status of organization and abstracts/papers submitted for the conference. As everyone knows, we are joining two other technical groups of Chinese scientists and engineers this year, so we should put in a little more effort to present VACETS favorably at the conference.
 
Anh Nhan and Anh Tri, please send me the list of abstracts/papers we had last year. I'll help you verify with authors about the timeliness of their papers. After confirmation, we'll post the list every week until the deadline, April 1, which is coming up very soon. Thanks.
 
I also reported that I had a conversation with the president of the Vietnamese Silicon Valley Network (VSVN) who expressed interests in getting to know and potentially cooperate with VACETS in the areas of commercialization of technical ideas/products, venture capital, corporate management practice, etc. I invited him to join us in LA in May so that he can brief all VACETS participants then and he has tentatively agreed to come.
 
2. I informed everyone that anh Tin has started the process of redesigning the VACETS web site. If you happpen to see any features which you think are useful and we should have, please send an e-mail to Anh Tin as a recommendation.
 
I am happy to announce "le retour de prodigal Vuong Ly" after some absence from VACETS. Ly has agreed to help anh Tin in this task of redesign the home page. Welcome back, Anh Ly!
 
We will have another meeting by the end of April ... in preparation for the conference on May 22.
