[Vtic2003] [New Executive Committee - CESASC conference]

Thanks anh Tri' for willing to share the work. The new Executive Committee is now open for business ...
 
And the first issue is the joint conference with CESASC ...
 
I share Anh Tri's ambition of organizing a VACETS-sponsored technical conference as we have been doing the last several years, save 2003. And the experience of VTIC2003 also underlines the commitment, dedication and determination needed to pull off a conference. The stagnant economy partly undermined our effort last May but the main issue, IMO, was insufficient submission of papers/tutorials/workshops.
 
>From those lessons, I believe a joint conference with CESASC will do VACETS good this year. We can get back to the conference planning activites, learn from their approach and have an opportunity to highlight/network VACETS with other communities, technical or otherwise.
 
We can always revert back to our own VACETS-flavored conference next year if we decide that's the way VACETS want.
 
Joining CESASC conference and then holding another one of our own is too ambitious, not feasible in a year! 
 
I therefore would like to recommend that we go ahead and join CESASC for the conference in May 2004.
 
I would also like to ask Anh Hung to draft a response letter to Dr. Charles Wang of CESASC about our intent and ask Dr. Nguyen Manh Tien to represent VACETS at organizational meetings. Anh Hung and Anh Tien will regularly brief the Executive Committee on the requirements, obbligations, issues and resolutions that may arise from this collaboration. We'll discuss the VACETS conference organizing personnel issue later.
 
Please voice your opinion; we'll hold this discussion until the end of this week when we'll contact CESASC.
