Dear all,
First of all, thank you for taking your time to vote for the VTIC2003 options. An overwhelming number of the organizing committee members voted for option 2. A total of 12 people took the time to vote and to give many great suggestions. The ratio of option 2 : option 1 is 10:2.
Therefore, the abstract submission deadline will be extended to 6/1/03. The deadline for the full paper will also be extended to 7/1/03. We will have ~ 6 weeks to compile the proceeding. We will need a lot support from everybody. Anh Ban and Bi will need to send out the sponsorship letters right away.
Despite Tri's tremendous effort in soliciting for the abstracts with past VTIC authors and potential future authors, we fell short of the number. I therefore would like to urge the more senior committee members (ca'c anh Hai, Hung, James, Luc, Thuy, and Tri CaoH) to use your personal contacts on abstract solicitation. Today, anh Hai personally called Dr. Tinh Nguyen at NIST for a submission and got a commitment. Thanks, anh Hai.
We currently have 15 submissions (both oral and poster). Our goal is to have 30 oral and 10 poster submissions. If each of us can get 1-2 more submissions, we will definitely have a respectable VTIC2003.
I will follow this email with an announcement to extend the abstract submission deadline soon. Please send me any comment before I send out the annoucement.
Again, thank you everyone for your time and enthusiastic support.
Best regards,
Nhan

> As of today, Tri and I have received only 13 abstracts for the VTIC2003. There may be a number of reasons for the low number of submission this year. Two possible main reasons are (1) the current economic situation and (2) proximity (time) of this to VTIC2002.
