Dear anh Thien & CACC,

Thanks for the interesting posting, anh Thien.

I have to give the Vietnamese government and the VCP for the very fast pace
of change in their thinking. Sometimes we are so frustrated because so many
changes we want to see but don't happen yet. But if we think back about the
mentality and the understanding of the VCP in 1982 and compared it with
today's situation, we can see that Vietnam has gone a very very long way.
I came back to Vietnam in 1992, at the time when the country is still very
backward both in appearance and in thinking. The speed of change since that
time until now is dizzying. I am very happy for that.

Of course, the country still has many many problems and we all still need to
put our hearts and minds together to work on these problems to move the
country forward. But at least, we should be happy with the way the country
has gone in the last 20 years.

BTW, there is an important point I hope that all our brothers and sisters in
this forum, and all our online readers take to heart. That is, in
hindsight we all are superbly intelligent--"I can't believe that they were
so stupid to do that! How could they be so blind!" That may be true. But
the problem is that most of us are so blind ourselves when it comes to the
present and the future. Every time someone tells us: "You know we should do
this and this, because that would bring this and this benefit 10 years from
now" or "We shouldn't do this and this, because it will damage us 10 years
from now like this and this," we are simply lost; we have no clues, we have
no eyesight, we act like a certified arrogant idiot.

We need to be able to see the present and the future, and have the courage
to tell people about it, the courage to move toward that direction.
A family, a business or a nation can travel well only if its thinkers,
its strategists, its leaders can see far into the future.

Each one of us needs to ask him/herself: How far can I see into the
future? Or am I just babbling what they all are babbling about?

Have a great day!

Hoanh
