Dear Thu Huong,
I share your and your friend's loss.
In many ways though, there is a deep generational gap between the old
leaders and the youth that, unless bridged, will disadvantaged the younger
leaders from learning from the experience of the older leaders. This
problem is only partially bridged within the framework of the Party, but
not in society at large.
There are few pictures that are more desolate than that of a new economic
zone with newly planted banana plants and bamboo shoots. While they grow,
it's a much more hazardous process than the natural replacement cycle in
the established groves. The new plants won't be productive or even
survive if there is a severe drought. They need room to grow but also
some protection.
Perhaps, in death, VVK's writing can still inform the younger aspiring
leaders?
Sincerely,
HPP

Re: [Vnbiz] The Architect of Doi Moi is Dead
[ Vietnam Business Forum ]
Dear my bro and sis,
Right after leader Vo Van Kiet passed away, I can see many of my friends
in Law school showed their sorrow to his death (well, I don't know how
they got the info so soon).
With great respect, I myself feel sorry for his passing away as a great
leader with great heart and determination.
Anyway, to consider another point of view, I think it's a positive
happening for us and for our national young leaders. For that they should
seriously think about New Doi Moi for the country. The greatest and
longest leaders in the last century are passing away and we just can't
depend on them for ever. It's time to give way to fresh and passionate
young leaders and we can see many other greatest Doi Moi happen to our
nation!
Wish my bro and sis love and courage,
