[Vnbiz] English website for college students

Dear CACC,

Thanks, Tu, for the forum-portal offer.

Twelve days after I posted my survey questions, I've now got 2 responses
from 2 English teachers (Thuy & Hai), and 1 IT response from Tu, and 2 from
2 students. That tells me that the students are probably not so hot about
the idea, or they may have zero idea on how such a site may interest them.

Originally I have some more fancy idea for the website. I was thinking
something like an e-magazine linked to a forum. But now that we are not so
sure about the students' interest, probably we should start something much
more simple to see how it goes. If the idea catches fire, we can always
improve upon it.

So I will start the planning process here, just to generate some widespread
interest. When this discussion may unduly cluster VNBIZ, we will move it to
a private list.

1. Sis. Thuy & Bro. Hong Hai & Tu: Let's focus on having teachers and
professionals managing this forum for now. And whenever we run into a
student with potential management skill, we will talk about that student.
2. Since Tu (in Saigon) has volunteered his forum portal, let's use it for
now, until we see some reason to move the site to another server. (No
advertising, Tu).
3. Please introduce friends who may be interested in managing this forum.
Whoever wants to volunteer, please kindly let me know. (I will train
everyone in the art of managing a forum).
4. "Volunteer," by my standards, means you have no pay but whatever hours
you volunteer to work, you treat those hours like you are paid a million USD
per hour. To me, spiritual and emotional payments are much more valuable
than monetary payments.
5. Let's think about the name for this forum. I'd love to have something
creative and crazy sounding (sort of like Yahoo! Google and the like).
6. And nice, fun and simple logo (any artist in the house?)
7. And a catchy slogan (we don't really need any of these, but they are
fun).
8. The categories of the forum: Housekeeping matters, welcome center,
business & economics, education, social, politics, culture, IT, around
schools, basic English, advance English writing (for professionals and
graduate students. I will do this category myself)... Please chip in your
idea.
Ok, folks, let's start talking.

Have a great day!

Hoanh
