Dear CACC,

Brother Nam, thanks for the posting. I haven't got a chance to read the
book, but I can tell you my philosophical observation over the years:  If
you look at the teaching of the great masters of the world (Jesus,
Confucius, Muhammed, Buddha, Tzao Tzu, Plato, etc.) you will find some
difference and great similarity.  All teachings related to the human hearts
have more similarity than difference, because humans everywhere have more
similarity than difference.

So the effort to try to prove what teaching from which great master might
have come from which other great master, in my opinion, is a waste of time.
Not only so, it may create division unnecessarily. Ex:  Some (dumb)
Christian may take offense that someone says Jesus learned from the Buddha.
Hey, we humans are irrational like that.

But here is another more serious concern.  It seems to me that too many
religious people are still so lost, so ignorant about their own master's
teaching and thus so divisive and destructive.
Today, I happened to cruise the Net looking for some writings on Jesus to
read, and what I read in one of the major Vietnamese-language Christian
sites in the US startled and saddened my tremendously.  Here is one posting
on that site FYI.  I deleted personal info to protect the writer's privacy.
This is about the celebration of the Buddha's Birthday in Vietnam recently.

Hiện tại các hệ phái tư gia đã và đang kiên ăn cầu nguyện cho vấn đề này.
+ Ngũ Tuần đã tổ chức kiên ăn từ ngày 1 đến ngày 10. Ngoài ra họ còn tổ chức
các nhóm cầu nguyện, dựng các lều gần tại sân Mỹ Đình để cầu nguyện ngày và
đêm
+ Các hệ phái khác thì theo mình biết đã tổ chức chương trình cầu nguyện
kiêng ăn nhiều ngày

Không biết bên Nhà Thờ có ý kiến gì về vấn đề này không.

Nhưgn xin cũng hãy vì Việt Nam, để thời gian hàng ngày cầu thay cho đồng bào
và dân tộc của chúng ta.

Chúng ta đã quá khổ suốt mấy ngàn năm đô hộ và chiến tranh. Khi một người
thầy chùa từ nước ngoài về VN thì mang theo rất nhiều LINH và QỦI.

Xin hãy cầu nguyện để :
+ Chúa bớt cơn giận đối với VN
+ Chúa đặt phục binh vào kẻ thù mình
+ Sân Mỹ Đình nơi tổ chức phật đản phải là nơi tổ chức và truyền giảng Tin

I'am a Christ-believer and I cannot find any of this mean-spirit in any of
Christ teaching.  I hope you guys just spend some time to read what Jesus
said himself in the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, Mark and John.  Jesus said,
"Learn from me for I am gentle and humble at heart"  Matthew 11:29.  Jesus'
second commandment:  "Love your neighbor as yourself."  Matthew 12:31.  You
don't assume that Jesus means "your Christian neighbor," do you?   Jesus
even teaches us to "love your enemy." Matthew 5:44.

My God, you guys are so lost.  You really make me sad and sick, and scare
me.  Our nation, and this world, will become a real hell if religious people
keep acting with that kind of mean spirit.

May Christ's loving, gentle and humble spirit fill our hearts and our minds
always.
