Vietnam to bid at Manila's 500,000 tons rice tender-media

HANOI - The Philippines would hold a tender to buy 500,000 tons of rice late
this month and Vietnamese firms are expected to win the bulk of the tender,
a Vietnamese industry official was quoted on Thursday as saying.

Vietnam already won most of a tender last month to supply 410,000 tons of
25-percent broken rice to Manila for delivery from January to March, Vietnam
Food Association general secretary Nguyen Thi Nguyet was quoted by Tuoi Tre
newspaper as saying.

"It is expected that our firms will bid again to supply 500,000 tons of rice
to this market," Nguyet was quoted as saying. "I think Vietnamese companies
have full opportunity to win a major part of the volume sought at the tender
late this month."
