[Vnbiz] a few McCain achievements for Vietnam

I'm sincerely and respectfully curious, Shane, about why would you as an
apparently well-informed pundit would predict:

McCain for one term only, followed by Obama!

I'm in the same position as you, no vote in the US. But i believe
globalization has been inevitable since Arabian nomads domesticated the
camel and used it to control trade with the Far East, long before the
Chinese began their first big push into international trade.

And, just as many modern nations believe in and act on their right to
intervene in other nations' economies, cultures, military activities, etc,
to deter nuclear weapons proliferation, carbon emissions or either "freedom
fighters" or "terrorists", depending on one's perspective, or even just to
spread their own cultural values, ideals or products (incorporating their
cultural values), each nations' peoples are now more than ever virtually
obliged to not close either their eyes, ears, noses nor mouths about what
other nations are doing, especially the most interventionist nations, and,
of those, especially those most actively intervening outside both their own
borders and the governance of the world's mutually agreed international
governing bodies, like the United Nations.

And i further fully believe that for several decades already it has been
quite obvious that being either nationalistically or ethnically isolationist
or xenophobic is to live a dangerous fiction, as both the Chinese and
Vietnamese perhaps best illustrated with their own declines from either
trying to do so or being forced to do so.

And, finally, i'd like to note that Marshall
McLuhan<http://www.marshallmcluhan.com/>accurately identified the
means by which we, as the world's leading
technologists unintentionally created the world's most efficient
then-emergent forum for such cross-border observation and response, the "global
village <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Village_%28term%29>" of
inter-national mass media which was soon followed the global Internet.

And this is something all up and coming young Vietnamese should understand
very clearly: the above and that nation's complaints of internal
interference are usually pure hypocrisy.

Just my own 319 dongs' worth (at today's rates, VND15932=USD1,
Vietcombank<http://www.vietcombank.com.vn/en/Exchange%20Rate.asp>
),
Andi

PS: I'm also a bit curious, Shane, about how well you as an fairly active
member of this mailing list stick to your just-stated creed of not
commenting on Vietnam's internal matters... What would the record show if
we did a search of the archives?
