[Vnbiz] Developing Open Source Software (Linux)

There are fewer accessory drivers for Linux than Windows. But running into a
piece of hardware that Linux can't handle is now quite rare -- usually only
the cheapest knock-offs on the market.
Some FLO software runs only on Linux. A lot, like OpenOffice, Firefox, vim
(text editor), Apache (web server)... in fact, most of the best FLO software
now runs under both Linux and Windows, some even while running one or the
other, via FLO "emulation" (eg, WINE) or virtualization (eg, VMWare)
software. As an example of the latter, Google Desktop and Picassa for Linux,
and, now, Photoshop, can be run under Linux by using Windows functions
emulated by WINE. There's a performance hit, but most PCs (desk, workstation
or laptop) which are powerful enough to run Windows Vista well now make that
performance disadvantage of current emulation and virtualization app's
virtually trivial.
OK, VietHung? Can you add any further free consultation on this topic? ;)
I've gotten run again...
Cheers,
Andi
