Dear anh Hao,
I think wherever you stay, you will need to use Metro (subway) to go around
DC to visit various places. It means, either you stay inside Washington DC
or outside Washington DC, you still need to pay for Metro. Period. Can't
walk in DC. One single block is enough to take your breath off (People who
live in DC walk much better than peoople from outside).
But hotels inside DC are generally more expensive othan hotels outside DC.
So you may want to search for Hotels outside DC on the Metro line (meaning,
you can walk to the Metro sation) (on the Virginia side; Maryland is further
out to DC downtown than Virginia; in addition Virginia subburb is very much
integrated to DC). Anh Tai's suggestion is good.
Good luck!
Hoanh
