Dear anh Craig,
I believe the tofu dish you mentioned is called "đậu chiên trứng muối/mặn"
(literally, fried (young) tofu coated with salted egg). I love it too.
Yummy! Yummy! :)
For vegetarian restaurants in Hanoi, you may want to have a look at this
recommended list:
http://phatphap.wordpress.com/2007/08/05/quan-chay-%E1%BB%9F-ha-n%E1%BB%99i/
If you can read Vietnamese, there are more discriptions here:
http://ngoo.wordpress.com/2007/09/02/quan-chay-%E1%BB%9F-ha-n%E1%BB%99i/ Some
restaurants are not far from your place actually.
I might be going to A di da restaurant next weekend. Would you like to join?
You can drop me a message or call me at 0913574313. Would be lovely to catch
up!
Re Vietnamese class, unless you get a tutor for yourself (or your group of
some people interested), I don't think there is any school in Ba Dinh area
that provides Vietnamese lessons. Check this out:
http://www.vietnameseteaching.net. Hope it helps!
Cheers,
Romi

Dear All:
Thanks all for the info. Actually still rather busy so I don't know
many places to eat other than those near to my house, which I have
grown quite bored of eating at daily. Any suggestions are most
welcome and appreciated. Although not a vegetarian I was a vegetarian
for 8 years and still prefer to eat a mostly vegetarian diet but don
't always because of time and convenience issues.
At one spot I had the most delicious fried tofu which I believe sat in
the sauce of broken egg yolk. Brilliant, simple, and delicious.
If any know what that would be called in Vietnamese, please let me
know as I would love to be able to identify it on a menu.
Also, if any know a good place to study Vietnamese in the Ba Dinh, Van
Phuc area, please let me know that as well.
Have a good day folks,
Craig
