Dear sister Dieu & CACC,
You understand me well. And your question is very good.
As a matter of public policy, the government need to work with the Vietkieu
community as much as it can, to improve relations as much as it can.
But let me bring it to a very personal level and give you my ultimate honest
answer, as a matter of my own heart:
I know that I cannot control anyone's heart. I have enough trouble
controlling my own heart--many times I get angry even though I want to be
calm.
I cannot make others love me and I don't even try to make anyone love me.
Trying to work on others' hearts is a futile attempt most of the time.
Instead I try to love others the best I can, constantly, all the time. I
may not succeed in such attempt, because many times I would be so upset that
I act like I just want to knock their head off. But at least, I seriously
try to love people as much as I can spiritually, with all my human
weaknesses.
Whether they love me or not is their business, not mine.
Does this answer your question, sis Dieu?
