Welcome back from your European adventure.
Please share the 3 most important/impressive things from this trip.
The idea of "what comes out of the right heart will be right" is an
attractive, but somewhat Utopian notion. That's not to say that it's
wrong, just that it is too subjective by itself to be reliable and
predictable. Many of Vietnam's previous generations really believed and
followed their hearts but ended up with disastrous consequences or bitter
disappointment. They would have been better served listening to both
their hearts and minds.
People everywhere has the right to petition their government, the
difference is whether or not their government listen to them, which in
turn directly depends on whether or not the people has the power to change
those in power. Culture plays a role, but there are more fundamental
principles that transcend culture. One of those principles is that no
authority would willingly yield its power without a certain level of
resistance. In such an environment, raising your voice will ineviaby
cause friction. The critical difference between different system is
whether or not violence is needed to affect changes in government.
Best, HPP

Thanks bro and sis for the discussion,
Thax bro Thien for your emotional writing about Nha Trang. I very like it
:)
Thax bro Tuan, bro Tai, bro Hoanh, bro Craig, bro Phong, bro Thang for
your different ideas about providing feedback to Vietnamese government.
You all help me understand more about the issue.
In my opinion, I have to say that I like this idea very much. I know that
in US, people have right to petition to the government regularly, but not
in VN. Yes. VN is different from US. VNese culture is different. We have
lived long with one-way interaction (from above to below, from the King to
the people, from the government to the people, I think). But I think Vn
should learn from US about this.
How can VN do that job? I don't know the exact answer. With me, the
discussion here somehow does that job. Because I can learn that I should
think about sth to communicate with the
Government, which is the thing I have never think seriously in my life
(because no one tells me so)!!
Many Vietnamese today want to do sth for our country. But i think that
they really don't know how to make it. They don't know how to raise their
voice peacefully but effectively. I pretty agree, "what comes out of the
right heart will be right". What we do is only to build the better
country. I believe in the future and I think we are making that future :).
So why don't we keep talking, brain storming about some way to provide
feedback to the Government, to build our two-way interaction 'talking and
listening' between us, the people in general?
Why not?
Wish my bro & sis happiness,
