Hi CACC,
Great that we have some planning activity in vnbiz!
Just two cents thought - will it be possible to consider some
humanitarian activities in vnbiz's new year plan? I would suggest only
one small activity for the new year, it is to support making ramps for
children with wheelchairs in primary schools, both in city and rural
area?
Further, I do have some resources on disability issue. If any of you
wish to know more about disability in Vietnam, please let me know, I'd
be happy to help out. The resouce we have ranges from education for
disable children (if you know one child who disable, you might want to
help him/her), to the instruction to make houses/buildings accessible
for persons with disabilities (follows Vietnam standards).
Thanks anh Hoanh for starting the planning!
And Happy New Year 2007 to you all!

Subject: [Vnbiz] What are we doing for the new year?
[ Vietnam Business Forum ]
Dear CACC,
What are we going to do in the new year? I guess we have already
talked about this in one form or another in our current messages. But
it wold be helpful to put them in a new year resolution.
1. As anh Shane has just written on New Year eve, our number-on goal
this year should be strengthening relationship among vnbiz
members--increasing time together, increasing activities together, and
most of all increasing business and professional works together.
We need to think "What VNBIZ members can do to help me in my
business/work?" then let everyone know that so we all can jump in to
support.
We need to be more focus on business activities. Tell each about what
we need internationally so that we can support each other.
(For me: Small Vietnamese companies want to export products or
services to the US (to either the overseas Vietnamese market or the
mainstream US market), please let me know. I will gather all the
names and their wishes can will start talking with everyone I know
(business folks, Vietnamese Embassy, Vietnam DOC, US Trade
associations, etc..) to see what kind of system should be set up to
help them. So, if you want to export your service (IT, translation,
phone answering, services for overseas Vietnamese, etc.) or products
(handicraft, specialty item), please send m note. I will spend time
to study some system to help you).
We need to focus on a long-term goal: We band together, we support
each other to help each other succeed. That is what bothers/sisters
do to each other. We will generate a generation of hugely successful
entrepreneurs and professionals who are talented, clean and patriotic.
2. We will continue to discuss major issues of the nation. And here
is something you guys need to think seriously. I have been leading
discussions on vnforum & vnbiz for 15 years. You guys can't let me do
this forever. Someone should start to work to relieve me of some of
this duty. For more than a decade, Vietnam politics has been very
difficult and it has been hard to conduct constructive discussions on
important national issues, so I have had to maneuver difficult waters
to help steer the discussions in a way that they benefit our policy
making. That needs is still there, but today our political atmosphere
is much more relaxed and the issues are less difficult. So everyone
should start to be more active to discuss national policy and allow me
to work less. I deserve a rest, guys! So would you guys start to be
more active and more analytical, please!
3. There is a need to have more political competition in our system,
and we need to work proactively on this. And my road map is that we
increase the number of independent candidates in National Assembly and
local governments. So, vnbizers who would like to sacrifice some of
your time to represent your people, please think about running for
political offices and tell us so that we all will come out to campaign
for you. (If a VNBIZer is VCP member and wants to run as VCP member,
we will support him/her too). So, please think about running for
political offices and tell us to support you. That is good for the
country. Trust me.
Vietnam is doing very well. Vietnam is on the way up. Let's work
together to keep bringing ourselves and our country up.
Happy new year!
Hoanh
