Dear Romi & CACC,
Below is a message from Romi for everyone. Romi is not able to send mail to
the forum. I think that is the problem common with yahoo. As I understand
from brother Tin, our system admin, that we use the spam prevention service
of a spam police group. This organization will put the name of the server
with a lot of out-going spams on the restriction list. Once a server is on
this list, its mail will be barred from entering our system.
Many yahoo servers are on this restriction list, because yahoo doesn't
control spamming very well. I think that may explain why Romi 's message
(from a yahoo account) cannot reach our forum.
My suggestion fro Romi is to switch to Gmail (who is more conscious
about disciplining spammers).
Anyway, Romi message about Thai coup is below.
Have a great day!
Hoanh

Dear CACC,
I'm not going to give any comments but to share with you a piece of writing
from one of my Thai friends. Just a 'snapshot' of the situation in Thailand
through a young Thai's eyes! I'm so relieved to know there was no fire nor
violence...
"... The situation has turned out to be ' good '. Majority of Thai people
are
happy about the coup. Finally we can feel relieved for the first time. Since
there have been many unclear political situation going on in the country
which really ruined our harmony. We seen the coup as the solution to reform
our politic and the unity of the country back.
No violence has occured since you might have heard from the news. So far
no gun has been fired yet, and hopefully wont be any as well. On the another
hand, soliders have been given roses, food, drinks from Thai civil while
they are on duty to protect the country.
Within 2 weeks, the interim PM will be assigned by the King ( nominated by
the coup committees ) Then the interim government will be in the position
for only one year with the main task of reforming contitution of the
country. Then new election will be held in a year time as well. At that
time, hopefully everything will
be back to normal.
Let me share my shocking experience with you. Although this is the second
coup in my life time, the first one i was only 2-3 years old so i didnt
really experience anything right hehe. This time i was so shock , really
shock. At around 9:00 pm of 19 of September. My friend told me there has
been a rumor that they will be a coup. I was laughing thinking she has been
overacting. 9:30 pm i have been recieving many MSN msgs talking abt the coup
as well. So i turned on the TV thinking if its the truth there must have
been something on TV. Suprisingly, there was none. So i thought no way it
could be true. 10 pm more rumors were flooding in my MSN and Webboards. I
checked the TV again. All channels were broadcasting the King music.
Ten minutes later, i found a news about the coup and the photos of the
tanks guarding the Parliament in CNN.com. I was at the dorm with my
roommate. There was no cable as well. I was totally off from getting news.
at 11 my friend on msn told me there were tunks outside the university where
my dorm is. T_T i was so shock wanting to go home so bad man... how could i
right? stay inside was the best. At around 11.15, there was the first
announcement about the coup which stated the reasons why they overthrew the
government. Then in every 20 mins, there were more and more announcments
came out. At around midnight, there were rumors on the internet that the
internet and the phone line will be cut. Thats pretty frightening right? I
was really shock man. Its my first time experiencing a coup overthrow the
government and tanks were all over the place. Then the line will be cut. How
could i contact my parents!!! I was so worry that we would lose contact and
my parents will take a risk to pick me up at my dorm.
Since there were too many rumors online, i have been so frustrated of all
the "not knowing true or not" news. I decided to go to bed instead.
Luckily, we've got up things turn to be a lot a lot better..." (from Koy)
Love and Peace,
Romi

On Wednesday, 20 September 2006, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University published
the result of a poll of 2019 people. The results are that 84% support the
coup d'état, and 75% believe the coup will "improve politics". Only 5%
believe it will make politics worse. This should be contrasted to nation-wide
poll taken in July that found that 49% of the people would vote for
Thaksin's party in the now cancelled October election.
The Nation <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nation_%28Thailand%29> noted
that local reaction was largely subdued. Although the Bangkok middle-class
was gladdened at the coup, Thaksin's rural supporters lacked real leaders to
register strong voices of dissent.
Many Thai people in Bangkok and surrounding area have come supporting the
soldiers by bringing food, drinks, and flowers.
Several Thai people in New York City demonstrated outside the UN showing
support for the coup.

Dear CACC,
I am realy disappointed at that coup d'etat in Thailand. It is simply
stepping backward. Looks like almost 2 decades of stable democracy is still
not enough to keep Thailand stable in the democratic road. The only thing
not so bad is that Thai coups, uncluding this one, are bloodless. But we
can see that the country is ruled by the guns. I do not trust the wisdom of
guns in management. Imagine that your company one day is taken over by a
bunch of gun-toting guys and they start to tell everyone what to do? Where
do you think that company may end up. Bao luc (power from the guns) usually
has no wisdom.
Too bad. This is of course not just Thailand. It colors the entire region
in the world's eye.
The only good thing about that is as Thailand is stepping backward, Vietnam
has a better chance to surpass Thailand.
Have a great day!
Hoanh
