Dear Viet and CACC,
I agree completely with you and I am really motivated with you message. You
cited answers of our friends in other countries. let me tell you waht I
myself heard from a tour guide of a private travel company, which is well
known by packback tourists in Vietnam. I joined a tour organised by this
company to Mekong Delta recently. The tour guide explained in English to
foreign tourists about history of Vietnam, the country which "was ruled by
Chinese for a thousand years, then ruled by French for a hundred years,
ruled by Japan for a half year and finally ruled by American by twenty one
year". And no more than that. When the tourguide "translated" into
Vietnamese, he certainly omitted these words. Not long time ago I went to
Thailand, I learnt that only certified tourguides with diplomas in history
are eligible to guide tour. What a painful feeling when hearing such
explanation about VN history. I've talked to some tourists (Korean students)
and they were surprised because they read VN history before coming to VN.
But there were also those who did not know ...
Brother Viet, I support your idea and hope other CACC in this forum will
also contribute to make brother Viet's idea come true.
Cheers,
Anh
