Dear CACC,
Probably you have heard that Saddam Hussein has just been executed
around 9:05 am, Saturday Dec. 30, Vietnam time.
I am not defending Saddam. He had a lot of blood in his hand. and he
would have to pay for it somehow.
But the legal process in this case is worse than a kangaroo court. It
is obviously jungle law, handed out by a "court" in a US-built regime.
In the US, a typical defendant will have between 10 to 20 years to
exhaust the legal process, before he may be executed.
In Iraq, should the US-sponsored court allows the defendant a year or
two to exhaust the appeal process?
The process was so unfair and unjust that it surely makes Saddam a
martyr in the eyes of his supporters. Meaning, they will be more
motivated to keep fighting. Sometimes a dead man is much stronger
than a living man.
But I don't care about that as much as the integrity of the American
process. We can't just say "Well, that is Iraqi affair." It is not.
The US has built this Iraqi government, it can't just deny
responsibility when it comes to murder.
Have a great day!
Hoanh
