Dear CACC,
Brother Nguyen Giac Phan Tan Hai, a VNBZer and my friend since the time we
studied philosophy at Dai Hoc Van Khoa Sai Gon, has just finished the first
draft of the first part of his writing on teachings from Ancient Vietnamese
Zen Masters. This is an English translation of condensed teachings by Zen
Master of olds, with good brief comments by Brother Nguyen Giac.
I understand that this writing is for the younger generation who may not be
well versed in Vietnamese, especially Chinese Vietnamese.
As I mentioned many times before, Buddhism has such a deep root in our
culture. We won't understand the Vietnamese culture well unless you have
some fundamental knowledge in Buddhism.
This writing is for Zen Buddhism, in which mediation plays a central role.
The writing may not make sense to non-practitioner, but if you have
practiced Zen for a while, it is very good writing.
If you would like a copy of this, please let me know. If there are more
than 10 persons request it, I will just post it in this forum.
Have a great day!
Hoanh
