[Vnbiz] Three month ban on Sinh Vien Vietnam magazine

Dear chi Dong Vy and CACE,

Attached is the news about the three-month suspension on Sinh Vien Vietnam
magazine.  This magazine publishes my articles once in awhile.  (But the
suspension has nothing to do with my articles.  So don't blame me for that,
please :-)

For you who may not remember, chi -Do^ng Vy is a reporter at Sinh Vien
Vietnam and her husband Pham Cong Luan is the head of the SVVN office in
Saigon.

Well, on the bright side, I would take it as a God-sent three-month
vacation.  How many times in your ultrabusy life would someone give you a
three-month vacation?  I have never got one yet.

Three month ban on Vietnamese magazine

Vietnam has suspended operations at the country's most
liberal weekly publication for three months as
punishment for publishing material deemed "offensive"
by the Vietnam.

The popular Sinh Vien Vietnam student magazine has
been forced by the Culture Ministry - the government's
guardian of morality and censorship - to halt all
publication.

Among the issues the ministry has objected to is an
edition depicting a Vietnamese banknote floating in a
toilet bowl, illustrating a feature story on young
people's earning traits.

The Culture Ministry has also banned all condom,
tampon and toilet paper advertisements from radio and
television during evening meal times.

The ministry says advertisements for such products
during prime-time eating hours are "unsuitable with
the national psyche, manners and customs".
