You are right, I should have made it clearer even though I did say that "that's how it is spoken".
The correct spelling is THIE^.T and and not THIE^.C. Also, even though the southerner said "Thie^.c ho^ng", the correct spelling should still be "Thie^.t kho^ng".
Thank you Phuong for pointing that out.

Just want to correct the spelling of the Sounthern word for THẬT is THIỆT with the T, not the C, even though the pronunciation sounds more like the C.

Joshua,
In this context, a native Vietnamese would say:
Really = "Tha^.t kho^ng? "
Yes, Really! = "Tha^.t chu+' " or "Tha^.t ddo' " or "Tha^.t ma` "
You don't really have to say Yes because in Vietnamese, either "Tha^.t chu+' " or "Tha^.t ddo' " or "Tha^.t ma` " already have the affirmative in it.
By the way, that is how a northern Vietnamese would say.
A southern Vietnamese would use "Thie^.c" instead of "Tha^.t" and
"Tha^.t chu+' " would become "Thie^.c cho+' " (u change to o),
"Tha^.t kho^ng" becomes "Thie^.c ho^ng" (k is dropped).
The meaning is exactly the same, it's just that's how it is spoken.

First....My condolences to the family of Bill Musser. May you find peace in your lives.
Second,
Can someone help me with this?
What is the best way to say, "Really?" and "Yes, Really!"
Here is the context.
She asked him to marry her and she said, "Really?"
He then said, "Yes, Really!"
Thanks,
Joshua
