Hi all,
I was at a district court in the State of Maryland, serving as an
interpreter for a traffic ticket trial ("Negligent Driving"). After
explaining the 3 conditions/options, the judge told the defendant:
"To be able to place your case on the "stet docket", you need to agree
to waive your right for a speedy trial. Do you agree?"
FYI:
"The Stet Docket is an inactive docket maintained by the State's
Attorney's office. If a case is placed on the Stet Docket, the
Defendant must waive his/her right to a speedy trial in the original
case."

When, out of the court room, I explained to the defendant: a "stet
docket" is similar to a "probation" = "a'n tu` treo" but with lesser
legal consequences.
I like to avoid using "a'n tu` treo" if possible.
TIA,
Va(n
