[vn-tech] How to detect unwanted 'bot?

Hi all,

My ISP called and told me, one of my PC, with fixed IP address, is
sending out unsollicited emails (UCE) to sell Viagra! I have to turn it
off and disconnect it from Internet.

Symantec Anti-virus 8.0 didn't detect it: what software do I need?
Or what needs to be done now?
1) re-install MS Windows 2000?
2) re-format the hard disk and re-install MS Windows 2000?
