   Dear all,

   This is on behalf of Kim-Loan, daughter of anh Tuan and chi
   Thu, friends of ours.  She just reached 18 years old and was
   diagnosed with AML a type of rare leukemia which chemotherapy
   alone cannot cure it more than 10 days ago.

   Yesterday anh Tuan let us know that Thu-Mai, her younger
   sister, has bone marrow type that matches 6/6 with Kim
   Loan's type.  It was a very encouraging news for Kim Loan!
   She can receive bone marrow transplant from her younger sister.

   May Kim Loan and her younger sister Mai Thu pass this ordeal
   smoothly!

   In the mean time, blood donation is needed badly for Kim-Loan's
   treatment.

   Chi Thu's employer, Travelers Insunrance, has organized a
   blood drive for Kim Loan:

   Anh Tuan told me that the blood types O+, O-, A+, A-  are
   needed for her.  And any different blood types donated to
   Kim Loan at the above location and time will be traded to
   the blood types she can use (O+, O-, A+, A-) with the help
   of some hospitals TX Children Hospital, St Luke...

   If you donate blood for Kim-Loan at other locations and the
   blood type is different than O+, O-, A+, A-, Kim Loan can
   also have some credit in terms of some money in her treatment
   account.  Anh Tuan will let us know more info about Kim Loan's
   account later.

   Therefore, if possible, please do come to Travelers Insurance
   to donate blood on Tuesday 17.  It'll maximize the benifit
   of your donating blood to Kim Loan.

   We don't have email addresses of all our friends and people
   with compassionate heart readily donate their blood for
   other's life, please pass the words to your loved ones,

Dear friends,
Chers amis,
Men gui cung tat ca than bang quyen thuoc va ban huu,

First of all, we would like to thank you very much for your
support during the last few weeks when our family has to go
through a shocking and depressing ordeal. We are deeply touched
by a tremendous show of love, support, assistance, comfort and
all of the prayers for our beloved daughter Kim-Loan.

The first question all of you ask us is: How is
Kim-Loan doing? The next question is: Will the situation
improve? Truthfully, we don't know the correct answer. It's
still very touchy, due to complications after the chemotherapy
treatment, especially for leukemia, which is very powerful, but
also very detrimental for the wellfare of the patient. Due to a
low count of white blood cells in the body after chemotherapy,
the most feared situation would be an infection where there
would be no mechanism to fight back. Unfortunately for Kim-Loan,
she has an infection of the colon. Therefore, doctors have to
prescribe a bunch of antibiotics, which made her sicker and
weaker. So she suffers everyday with fever, upset stomach and
all kinds of pain. That's why we never feel comfortable to say
that she's doing ok or the situation looks like improving.

Also, the type of leukemia she has is an AML with an abnormal
genetic formation in some chromosome, meaning a rare type of
ailment where chemotherapy alone will not cure it. Bone marrow
transplant is needed along chemotherapy for the treatment. It's
another depressing type of news for us.

Luckily, yesterday, doctors told us that her young sister,
Thu-Mai, has a type of bone marrow matching Kim-Loan's bone
marrow. So there is still hope. That's why we need to continue
praying for some type of miracle to help both sisters surviving
this ordeal.

In the meantime, for some folks who are willing to donate blood
needed for her treatment, Thu's employer (Travelers Insurance)
has organized a blood drive at this location:
