For Immediate Release
On Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at approximately 7:05
p.m. the Fort Bend County Sheriffs Office responded to a Death
Investigation in the Townewest Subdivision located at 10511
Overview Dr., Sugar Land, Fort Bend County.
The preliminary investigation reveals an estranged wife went
to the residence of her husband on Overview Dr. concerned
because she had been unable to make any contact him for some
time. As she entered the house, she found it to be totally
ransacked throughout the entire house. She found her husband,
Jose Luis Mendez, 57, and Omar Osvaldo Serna, 55 years-of-age,
of the Stafford area, deceased in the front room of the house.
Mendez and Serna appear to have suffered from blunt forced trauma
and apparent gunshot wounds. Galveston County Medical Examiners
Office will be conducting the autopsy investigation. Once
we receive the preliminary autopsy report we will conduct a
press conference in order to update you with details of this
case. More than likely that will occur sometime on Friday,
September 22, 2006.
At this time, a motive is neither apparent nor suspect
information. The vehicle belonging to Mendez is thought to be
missing. It is described as a Red or Burgundy 2004 Honda Accord
4-door, bearing license plate X23SZH. Anyone with details on the
deaths of Mendez or Serna, or the whereabouts of the victims
vehicle is asked to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers (281)
342-TIPS or Fort Bend County Sheriffs Office at (281) 341-4665
This investigation remains ongoing and you will be contacted
immediately with further updates.
