[Vacets] Strategic Plan

It's kind of contradiction here, I think. For a successful business, the
"Tu+' Vo^ Lu+o+.ng Ta^m: Tu+` Bi Hy? Xa?" can't be fully implemented. It's
easier to say than to do.

Subject: [Vacets] Strategic Plan

Here are the components of all areas of a strategic plan. For business,
each component such as market research may require a big plan by itself.

1. External Assessment: S curve, external scanning, market research, and
market opportunities.

2. Internal Assessment: financial, strengths and weaknesses, core
competence, leadership assessment, and strategic audit.

3. Strategy Development: values purpose, vision and goals, creative
strategies, value propositions, and build to last.

4. Strategy Alignment: customer value, culture, know-how, human resourse
practices, and disciplined of market leaders.

5. Strategic Execution: execution tools, assess risks, lead change, company
presentation, and implementation.

>From this general strategic plan, one can also modify it and apply to our
own household and extented family and relatives in order to have a better
direction on what to do with our life hence less problems in our life. It's
an interesting and enlightening process to go through. I went through this
planning many times and highly recommended. A learning model here is to
combine the theory and experience into practice.

    14 LESSONS IN OUR LIFE
1. The biggest enemy is ourself.
2. The most stupidity is cheating or lying.
3. The biggest failure is our ego or pride.
4. The most sadness is our jealousy or enviness.
5. The biggest mistake is losing ourself.
6. The biggest crime is having no appreciation.
7. The most pittable is our infereriority complex.
8. The most admiration is rising again after falling.
9. The most destruction is without hope.
10. The most assets are our health and our wisdom.
11. The biggest debt is our emotion.
12. The biggest charity is to forgive.
13. The most lack is the lack of understanding.
14. The biggest consolation is our charity or giving.

Dear anh Tho & anh Tri,

This is exactly what I had in mind. In order to make a very crucial
decision, we count a lot on hearty support, but that is not enough because
success depends on other factors determined by internal & external
assessment and startegic planning.

Since VACETS already went through the same process before, it is nothing
new. Let's revisit it again.

Thanks,
/chp

Dear Anh Tri':

A way to handle this is to go through a strategic planning process. It's
similar to the one that we did for VACETS about 5 years ago. This plan
should be revised regularly at least once a year. It's a number one job of
any leader/president/CEO of any organization or country.

Please take a look at a table of Strategies for Organization or Strategic
Planning. It has areas like: external and internal assessment; and strategy
development, alignment and execution. In each area such as external
assessment, it has components such as S curve, external scanning, market
research and market opportunities. I don't have this table handy, but you
should be able to find it in your library, etc.

If you need further assistance, please give me a ring at 651-633-5925.

Good luck with this process.

Tho.

Subject: VACETS or NO VACETS

Dear all

I am still struggled with VACETS vision and future activities and find it
harder and harder to answer to myself and a handful of dedicated (non-VACETS
member) individuals who want to help rebuild VACETS. During this important
Board election process, the dead silence response from VACETS general
population and unenthused reaction from VACETS veterans do not help. The
hard work ahead is equivalent to starting VACETS anew and am not ready to
dive into that and invest mine and asking the time of several others without
having a vision and a belief in its future survival.

Rather than ducking the inevitable and nurturing false hope, let me ask THE
HARD QUESTION:

WHAT IS VACETS? IS THIS TIME TO SHUT IT DOWN AND MOVE ON?

ACTION ITEM:

I am meeting with a number of friends and I am inviting all, especially
VACETS supporters in the Bay Area to a meeting to talk about this.

Time: 6-8 pm Wednesday 8/10
Place: Cisco Systems Inc., Building 23
560 McCarthy Blvd., Milpitas, CA 95035

There will be a conference call option set up for you to call in between 6
and 7 pm for those die-hard VACETS members to call in to say a few words.

My recommendation is to ask ourselves as to how much we truly can help and
be realistic. Many motivated and resourceful VACETS leaders with strong
support team have come and go!. It is very hard to galvanize a busy and
ambitious technical communities!

Sincerely,

Tri
