[Vacets-local-dc] Re: Regarding VACETS name - pls advise

Hello Chris,
 
This name itself has a peculiar history ... And we are stuck with it now!
 
If I remember it right, when we first discussed the forming of VACETS in a restaurant in Eden Center, Virginia, it first started with only Computing and Engineering Technology (VACET). Later,  Prof. Nguyen Manh Hung recommended that we add Science to include social scientists as well ... hence the "S".
 
So, the name should be: Vietnamese Association for Computing, Engineering Technology, and Science. The logic behind it is:
 
Computing: anything related to computational processes relating to computers (hardware/software, design, algorithm, optical computing, digital computing, etc.)
 
Engineering Technology: the emphasis is on the implementation of technology, i.e., engineering approach, procedures, not abstract or theoretical ...
 
Science: generic scientific disciplines, including basic, pure, abstract sciences, in contrast to technology which is applied science.
 
Any other opinion?

Reviewer's comment: Vietnamese Association for Computing, Engineering, Technology, and Science (there should be a coma after Engineering and Technology, based on Strunk and White).
 
Please advise whether we leave it as is or changed per Strunk and White rule.
