Subject: VSVN--Volunteer Meeting August 19 at 6-8 p.m.
Dear VSVN Members and Friends,
In a short time span of less than six months, VSVN has blossomed from about
25 members into a mature and growing non-profit organization with over 250
members and still growing almost daily. This is an increase of 1000%. Our
members hale from all over the United States, as well as around the world.
We all share in the same vision and mission: to be the premier ambassador of
entrepreneurial company building initiatives for the global Vietnamese
business community with an initial focus in the high-tech industry
(www.vsvn.org).
In addition to organizing and co-sponsoring various events the past few
months, the team has been busy refining VSVN's strategy and we are immersed
in several exciting and important initiatives. We are looking for dedicated
volunteers interested in helping to implement the following three important
projects:
1. ENTREPRENEURS' ACADEMY: The Academy's mission is to provide education and
training for entrepreneurs in the high tech industry to build successful
companies. The Academy will consist of three modules. Each module will
focus on a particular development stage in the life cycle of building and
growing a high-tech start-up. As part of the Academy, VSVN will host events
as well as provide referrals to service providers in a particular area of
interest.
2. TECHNICAL BOOK DRIVE: To build a thriving high-tech industry in Vietnam,
thereby creating jobs and raising the standard of living, there must be
access to current technical books. Without current technical books in
English students in Vietnam will lag behind their global competitors and be
at a disadvantage. VSVN has identified a technical library in Vietnam and
will help raise funds to fill this library with technical books.
3. LINKING DATABASE: To streamline the networking process, identify business
opportunities, encourage discussion and communication among professionals
with similar business interests, VSVN is building an online database
accessible by its members. The idea is to allow members to quickly search
and identify useful business leads and contacts. There will also be online
discussion groups on various topics in an effort to build our online
community. We will be giving a brief 10-minute presentation about each of
these three initiatives in late August. After the presentation, there will
be a break-out session by committee to discuss details of each project and
how you can help.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE THAT MAY BE INTERESTED.
AGENDA
6:00-6:30: light refreshments and pizza
6:30-6:45: Overview of the three projects
6:45-8:00: Break-out sessions to discuss project action items
