JOB DESCRIPTION

United Students Against Sweatshops (USAS) is currently hiring
for a full-time Campus/Community Solidarity National Organizer
position. The position requires a one-year commitment, a
dedication to social and economic justice, and a willingness to
work independently. The position offers a competitive non-profit
salary, health and dental benefits, and flexible vacation time.
People of color, immigrants, women, working class, and LGBTQ
folks are strongly urged to apply. 

USAS is a national student-run organization with chapters across
the country running exciting grassroots campaigns focused on
issues of worker rights and social and economic justice, from
our campuses and communities, to the factories across the world
that manufacture garments and other products for U.S.
corporations and universities. 

This position will be focused on campus worker solidarity and
ethical contracting. The position will require working closely
with our national allies (such as unions, other student
organizations, etc.) and significant travel to campuses--though
Washington DC will be the home base. Person will be responsible
for leadership development, conference planning, campaign work
and national coordination. (along with other USAS staff members)
Must be available to start soon (preferably September). The
position will be supervised by the members of the USAS
Coordinating Committee, and will fall under the collective
bargaining agreement held by USAS and the International
Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) Local
70.

QUALIFICATIONS
** Experience as a student/youth organizer; preferably some 
        experience with USAS and/or the student labor movement
** Knowledge of/experience with the labor movement
** Strong commitment to building diverse leadership and 
        combating oppression 
** Experience in outreach and coalition building 
        regionally/nationally
** Strong communication skills

10. Do you identify as a woman, as a person of color, as an LGBT
